INVISALIGN
Straight Teeth Without Braces
The Invisalign® System straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable aligners. It’s virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth.
Dr. Mastaj works with Align Technology, the makers of Invisalign, to create a set of aligners based on an individual treatment plan for each patient. The aligners are designed to move the teeth in small increments until they reach the final position she prescribes. Every one of your aligners is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your teeth at each stage of the treatment so they’re really comfortable and easy to wear.
Dr. Mastaj is an orthodontic specialist which means she has years of additional training related to creating smiles that not only look great, but function properly so you get all of the health-related benefits only available from a specialist. But she is also highly experienced in treatment with Invisalign® and offers this amazing technology to people of all ages, starting as early as age 7.
Invisalign from Mataj Orthodontics is a great choice for:
-

- Children Starting At Age 7 (see Invisalign First below)
- Teens – especially those involved in music & sports

INVISALIGN FIRST
Designed For Young Smiles
As a child grows, their smile grows with them. And even with baby teeth, it may be the perfect time for children ages 7 and up to start orthodontic treatment.
The goal of early treatment is to develop young jaws and/or arches to make room for existing teeth and for incoming permanent teeth. Invisalign First aligners are:
- Able to treat a broad range of issues in growing children, including crowding, spacing, and narrow dental arches
- Removable for easy hygiene, making it easier for growing children to brush and floss
- Designed for comfort – no discomfort from rubbing brackets or poking wires
- Can help with oral habits such as thumb sucking or tongue thrusting

How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign treatment is a non-obtrusive way to straighten teeth without the pain and headaches of braces. It involves wearing clear aligners that are custom-made for your teeth. Depending on your treatment plan, you’ll wear these removable aligners all day, including while you sleep.
The Invisalign treatment process is gradual. As your teeth shift into position, you will receive new aligners. The process involves frequently switching aligners to ensure your teeth are in the correct position. That means you get to see our friendly, smiling office staff regularly as you progress through your Invisalign treatment!

Which is better, Invisalign or braces?
Invisalign certainly wins when it comes to comfort, hygiene, and discretion. Unlike braces, which require brackets to be cemented to your teeth, Invisalign aligners are removable, making brushing and flossing your teeth significantly easier. They are also less visible, as they are clear and almost unnoticeable, unlike braces. This can help kids and teens who might feel self-conscious about wearing metal braces with brightly colored brackets.
In addition, Invisalign treatment plans tend to be shorter than braces treatment plans, which can extend for several years. In contrast, many people only have to use Invisalign for a few months.
The bottom line is that Invisalign may be the preferred treatment option for people with mild to moderate misalignment. However, people with severe misalignment or other challenges with their teeth might need braces instead. The best way to answer this question is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Mastaj.
What to Expect at your first Invisalign appointment
During your first visit, you’ll meet Dr. Mastaj and confirm that Invisalign is your best treatment plan. Dr. Mastaj will take a 3D scan of your mouth to get an impression of your teeth. She will also take x-rays and photos of your teeth. This is painless and mess-free! The scan will be used to create your aligners, which will be ready soon after your initial appointment. You will need to return for another visit to make sure they fit correctly.
This first visit is important for ensuring you and Dr. Mastaj are aligned on your treatment plan, including its length and cost. You can ask any questions about the treatment plan and payment options. Our helpful staff will give you all the information you need about creating a payment plan and billing insurance if you choose.
Invisalign FAQs
How to clean Invisalign trays
For everyday cleaning, use a manual toothbrush and clear, unscented antibacterial hand soap. Avoid hot water, which can damage the trays, and toothpaste, which can scratch your aligners. For more thorough cleaning, soak your aligners in a mixture of one part vinegar and three parts water. (Note that your aligners might smell like vinegar for a bit afterward.)
How long does it take Invisalign to work?
Depending on the patient, invisalign treatment plans can take 6–24 months. However, most patients start seeing noticeable results within three months.
How much is Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign treatment plan costs vary from patient to patient but are generally in line with the cost of braces. Dental insurance may cover some of the costs, and you can also use HSA/FSA funds. Payment plans may also be available.
